Blue Ribbons: Oil on Canvas 11" x 16" (work in process) This portrait started from life and I am completeing it from photographs. I am only part way through the glazing process and ultimately the colours will be considerably deeper and richer and the edge quality more developed. The palette is based on Vermeer's "Girl with the Pearl Earring". In the end I am hoping the playfulness of the light blue ribbons and the formality of the pose will capture the timeless quality of this young woman.
